Grows 50 to 70 feet tall and 20 to 30 feet wide
A pyramidal, deciduous tree that grows well in wet areas. It is one of the longest-living trees in the world and its rings hold years of climate data. It is native to swamps, bayous, and rivers, primarily being found in coastal areas. It is a familiar sight growing directly in swampy water with its branches heavily draped with Spanish moss.
