Mt. Airy Fothergilla is a fast growing deciduous shrub that is noted for its spring flowering, summer foliage, fall color and consistently upright habit. Terminal, bottlebrush-like spikes of small, fragrant, white flowers bloom in spring after the foliage emerges. Look great when used in masses, foundations or native settings Flowers have a light sweet fragrance. Its leathery leaves are dark green above and bluish-gray underneath. Foliage turns excellent shades of yellow, orange and red-purple in fall. Thrives in medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade.
