‘Little Gems’ are a much smaller and slower-growing cultivar of the Southern Magnolia, Magnolia grandiflora. They typically grow as an upright, multi-stemmed shrub or small tree, and are loaded in summer with lemon-scented flowers. Left to be free and wild, they want to grow to 20’ tall.
 
Since it's already been trained to a trellis, you'll need to keep this one pruned in late winter or early spring before new growth arrives. Don't over-prune to avoid stress on the plant.
