Found in meadows and woodlands, spring-blooming Columbines appear to be dove-like and delicate but some say the flower spurs resemble an eagle’s talons. They will grow from one half foot to 3’ tall, in rich, well-drained soil in a part-sun location. Does not like heavy, wet soils. Use in shade gardens, rock gardens, borders or naturalized areas.
